Lafarge Remediation Masterplan - Alrewas

Overview

Following our work with the neighbouring National Memorial Arboretum in Alrewas, we were invited by Lafarge to prepare a masterplan following the remediation of several thousand hectares of sand and gravel extraction. The brief was to create a development that was sympathetic to the Arboretum, building on the strategies that had been formulated for the visitor attraction. The project was to deliver a leisure complex in line with the Central Rivers Initiative and included a five star hotel positioned on a lake, with surrounding parkland, a three star hotel, youth hostel and camp site, a new parkway railway station and wetland wildlife habitat.
