Centre for Food & Health - Norwich

Overview

The project began with the client brief to create a ‘place to be proud of’. We have been involved from the beginning, from masterplanning and site selection, through to concept and detailed design creating a new building to rehouse the Institute of Food Research at Norwich Research Park.

The concept for the landscape design, inspired by the complex processes of food digestion, unifies busy public zones with secure research activities, the public realm and site circulation with parking, service access and sustainable drainage.  The challenges of a sloping site and light alkaline soils have generated a distinctive landform and planting design.

The project is supported by the University of East Anglia and the Norwich and Norfolk University Hospital.
