Following our appointment to produce detailed proposals for a neighbourhood strategy for the Davenport Drive area of Castle Vale, in Birmingham, we were invited to design a new park at the centre of the estate covering an area of 2.4 hectares. The design for the park reflects the aviation history of the area including the shapes used in the bespoke gateways which mimic the Spitfire which had a testing ground at Castle Vale.
Extensive public consultation took place over a period of 12 months to all the residents’ views were considered. As a result the inclusive design incorporates a variety of play areas for all ages, attractive gardens for sitting and relaxation and a multi sports area.
