As an extension to the village of Osbaldwick, Derwenthorpe is a sustainable development built on the legacy of Joseph Rowntree’s model village of New Earswick. The contemporary approach to the garden city style of public realm incorporates social spaces, play facilities, home zones and an extensive SUDS system with open ditches and ponds whilst retaining the existing hedge lines to create individual neighbourhoods.
We were tasked to create the landscape masterplan and design code for the development. We then continued to complete the detailed design.
This sustainable development has received a number of prestigious awards including the Civic Trust Award 2014.
