Newport Docks

As landscape Masterplanners we prepared an extensive masterplan detailing all aspects of public realm for an exciting mixed use development in the old historic docks at Newport. The scheme includes high density residential, retail and leisure facilities in a setting that complements the historic features of the docks.

Creating a strong green infrastructure framework was key to the masterplan’s success to emphasise key routes, gateways and to accommodate SUDs. The residential development is designed around private courts with car parking and planting.  A design code explains the hierarchy of planting, paving and street furniture to create character areas and emphasise routes and spaces.

Inspiration for the detailed design is taken from the cellular pattern of leaves. This pattern has led to a sequence of interesting spaces through the central spine of the masterplan.
