St Lukes Residential Development - Birmingham

Overview

Located just south of the City Centre on the edge of the Calthorpe Estate we were invited to join the Bouygues team to bid for the redevelopment of the St Luke’s site. The brief was to masterplan a mixed use development, including residential, whilst linking several green spaces in Birmingham.

A series of massing studies informed the building layout along the main road frontages, balancing commercial and practical requirements with architectural merits, to create a layout with strong building presence, active frontages and good pedestrian permeability. An aspiration for high quality contemporary design was proposed using a simple palette of materials, enriched by a cohesive strategy for landscape and public realm.
