St Michael’s Square - Gloucester

Overview

St Michael’s Square located in the middle of the central Conservation Area in Gloucester, is a Victorian Square which was neglected and for many years used as a public car park. Our brief was to design the Square in a contemporary style but to be sympathetic to the existing architecture.

The materials reflect the historic setting, with new Victorian style railings, Forest of Dean Sandstone paving and blue brick pavers.  Within the central stone paved seating area there are 10 mosaic panels reflecting the Roman history of Gloucester (Glevum).
