UTC Swindon

The new University Technical College, is set within the historic context of the former Great Western Railway works in Swindon. We set out to incorporate new facilities with original buildings, including the restoration of the listed landmark Water Tower, within a tight urban space.

The compact site required multi-functional spaces that combined social and curriculum uses, parking servicing and public realm.  The central courtyard is a space for the college serving numerous functions, laid with a distinctive paving motif that reflects a design element from the steelwork of the Water Tower.
