An ‘innovation ecosystem’. Using landscape as a space for collaboration, networking and sharing ideas
The Expansion to the Begbroke Science Park masterplan is one of the first projects to be delivered as part of a £4 billion partnership between the University of Oxford and Legal and General Group PLC.
Working closely with NBBJ Architects, Fira’s masterplan for the campus public realm aims to utilise nature, biodiversity, water management and high quality materials as the building blocks for collaboration spaces. Cycling is central to Oxford’s campus culture so ensuring the masterplan caters widely for cyclists is a crucial component, with an improved infrastructure for cyclists and significant increases to cycle parking provisions.
In addition to the campus expansion, Fira has been working to introduce off-site green infrastructure benefits, including a new cycleway to sustainably connect the site’s rural location to nearby residential areas, as well creating spaces for ecology and biodiversity within the surrounding farmland.
