Commissioned by PossAbilities, Fira worked closely with young people with a range of learning needs and abilities to design the grounds for Cherwell Farm and Wellbeing Garden.
The design focussed around the concept of both the garden and farm providing a wellbeing and amenity resource for day care visitors and local people; offering a sensory garden, model farm, growing areas, an outdoor dining area and a performance space for community and fundraising events. Respite and day care visitors are provided with opportunities for growing, socialising, and interacting with nature at close quarters.
The grounds are looked after by young people with learning and physical disabilities. PossAbilities staff and local volunteers provide training and education through gardening, animal husbandry, and voluntary work to enable people to learn new skills.
