The landscape design of this unique learning environment focused on motivating and engaging with pupils that experience moderate learning difficulties or have social and emotional behavioural difficulties.

We designed KnowEdge to incorporate a wide range of spaces to deliver external learning and recreation. These included sporting facilities, performance spaces, allotment areas, a mechanical yard and a variety of play spaces, with each of the classroom clusters having direct access into the landscape.

Fira worked closely with the school throughout the design and build process to deliver this unique landscape setting. To provide identity and enhance local character, the scheme included a wide and varied range of planting and hard paving materials. The planting scheme included both sensory and sustainable zones that can be used for learning and project based activity.
