Delivery of a new campus, to pioneer a culture of open innovation within UK bioscience
The scheme is intended to make the specialist facilities used by multinational pharmaceutical companies available to start-ups and small biotech and life science companies.
Two buildings occupy the site, surrounded by landscaped grounds. The first, an ‘Incubator’ building is designed to suit start-up ventures and the second, an ‘Accelerator’, houses larger companies and offers facilities that successful and expanding incubator companies can grow into.
The landscape design is clean and simple to reflect the architecture and respond sympathetically to the site levels. A series of large scale grass terraces are located centrally within the scheme, offering staff the opportunity to sit and relax, whilst open areas of hard paving provide connections between buildings to complement the internal social spaces.
