Set within the National Forest, this landscape led masterplan creates a distinctive and attractive setting for over 2000 new homes

Driven by the Green Infrastructure Strategy and Design Code, the development at South East Coalville incorporates SuDS and a sustainable movement strategy that balances environmental enhancements with placemaking; creating vibrant public spaces for all to enjoy.

Fira developed the Local Quarter Design Code to set the vision for the social heart and southern gateway to the development, which includes a Forest School, community amenities and one of the 5 areas of play on the site.  Play and active lifestyles have evolved to become a key element of the infrastructure landscape. Our proposals utilised a combination of timber equipment with unearthed glacial boulders and site-felled trees to bring a variety of play potential that intertwines with the Leicestershire PROW network that crosses the site.

Our involvement began at the planning stages leading through to construction and maintenance, and ensuring the cohesive delivery of the vision.

Collaboration with ecologists and engineers has been integral to the development of the project.
